Moving abroad from Slough

European removals from Slough start better than from almost anywhere in the south-east: the M4 is minutes away and the load reaches the tunnel in one run. The move itself runs on the same inventory as a local job, with a customs file built on top of it.

Four routes are run regularly enough to have their own pages. Everything else in western Europe is on enquiry, and we will say so plainly.

The four routes we run from Slough

These are the destinations where we hold agents, know the entry formalities and run vehicles often enough to quote them properly. Each page carries the road route, the regions we deliver to, and a document list split between what you obtain and what we obtain.

How a European move out of Slough runs

It begins exactly as a move to Cippenham begins: a survey, a measured volume and a written inventory. The difference is that the inventory then becomes a customs document, which is why we are particular about it. A customs officer reads "twelve cartons, books" very differently from "boxes".

The vehicle leaves on the M4, joins the M25 and runs round to the M20 for the Folkestone shuttle. From Calais the routes diverge: east and south for Italy, straight south for Spain and Portugal, anywhere at all for France. The export declaration is raised before the vehicle reaches the terminal and the import entry is lodged by an agent at the far end against the same inventory.

Where holding fits

Overseas completions slip, and relocation housing gets confirmed late. Rather than hold a removal date hostage to either, we collect on whichever date is genuinely fixed, list the goods and hold them. When the far end is real, the export file is built against the list we already have. The storage page sets out how that works.

Picking up beyond Berkshire

A vehicle heading for Europe is not fussy about where the second pickup is, provided it is on the route. We collect across west London, Berkshire and the motorway corridors, and take consignments from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bristol when a European run is already scheduled. If you are moving from one of those cities rather than from Slough, say so and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right firm or whether a local one serves you better.

What we will not tell you

A transit time before we know your route, your load and whether you are sharing a vehicle. The honest answer varies enormously and an invented number helps nobody — your written quote carries an estimated window for your actual consignment. The same applies to duty: it depends on your residence status and your paperwork, so we set out the conditions rather than imply a guarantee.

Questions about moving abroad

  1. 01

Which countries do you cover from Slough?

France, Spain, Italy and Portugal as established road routes, each with its own customs agent and its own page. The rest of western Europe on enquiry — Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland all sit on the same vehicles. Where a country is not routine for us we will say so rather than learn on your move.

  2. 02

Does being near Heathrow mean you do air freight?

No, and it is worth being clear about it. We are a road removals firm. Being next to the airport shapes who our customers are — people starting and ending postings — rather than how the goods travel. If air or sea freight is genuinely what you need, we will tell you.

  3. 03

Do you collect from outside Slough?

Yes. A European vehicle leaving here regularly picks up a second address around the airport, across Berkshire, or along the M4 and M25. We also take loads from London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Bristol when a run is already going.

  4. 04

    Dedicated vehicle or shared load?

A dedicated vehicle carries only your goods and leaves when you want. A shared load travels with other consignments going the same way, costs less, and departs when the route fills. Firm dates point to dedicated; any flexibility usually makes the shared load better value.

  5. 05

    Who does the customs paperwork?

We do, working from the inventory written at your property and with a clearing agent in the destination country. What we cannot obtain are the documents personal to you — tax numbers, residence registrations, consular certificates. Each country page says exactly which is which.

  6. 06

Can goods be held here before they go?

Very commonly, and on relocations it is the standard sequence. Goods are collected on the date that is fixed, listed and held, and the export file is built against that same inventory when the far end becomes real.

Tell us where it is going

Two addresses, a rough volume, and whether the far end has a date. We will come back with the route, the document list and a written quote.
