The route out of Berkshire
The same opening as any European run from here: M4 to the M25, round to the M20 and onto the Eurotunnel shuttle at Folkestone. For Spain the shuttle is almost always right — the vehicle has the whole of France ahead of it and the driver needs the hours intact.
From Calais the A26 and A10 run south past Paris and Tours to Bordeaux, then the A63 to the border at Irún. From there the AP-1 and AP-68 head towards Madrid, or the coastal AP-7 carries on through Catalonia and down the Mediterranean side to Valencia, Alicante and Murcia. Andalucía is the A-4 south out of Madrid.

Customs and paperwork
Spain applies the same principle as France with rather more paperwork attached. Household goods enter free of duty under transfer of residence relief, but Spanish customs is particular about the inventory and about your registration status, and the sequence needs to be right before the vehicle is loaded.

What comes up after the move
The surprise on Spanish moves is rarely the distance — it is the last two hundred metres. Urbanisations on the Costas are built around cars, and a 7.5-tonne vehicle carrying a Berkshire household does not always get to the door. Where that is true we shuttle with something smaller. That is a cost and a plan, not a disaster, provided it is known in advance.
Climate is the second one. Waxed furniture, vinyl and anything with a glued veneer behaves differently in a Mediterranean summer than it did in a Slough semi. It is worth deciding at survey what is genuinely worth taking rather than paying to move something that will not survive its first August.
Third, the NIE gates almost everything including the customs relief, and people consistently start it too late. If you are reading this without one, that is the thing to begin today.

You need it for the customs relief, so effectively yes. We can collect and hold goods while it is being arranged — a common sequence — but the import entry requires it.

Can you deliver to the Balearics?
Yes, with a ferry leg from the mainland. It is an additional stage that has to be booked into the plan, so say at enquiry if the destination is Mallorca, Menorca or Ibiza.

What if the Spanish purchase falls through?
Your goods stay here, listed and held, until the next one completes. It happens often enough on Spanish purchases that we treat holding as part of the normal plan rather than as a contingency.

Will you take garden furniture and the shed?
If you want them. Be aware that soil, plant material and some garden chemicals are restricted, and an unwashed pot with soil in it can hold up an entire load at the border. We flag anything doubtful at survey.
